CAL FIRE Station 43 - Redding

In 2011, the SCFD and Station 43 received a two year federal grant administered by the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA under its Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response program (S.A.F.E.R.) This grant enables the SCFD to staff one additional Type II fire engine year round with a minimum of two person staffing to respond to all types of emergencies.

In addition to the S.A.F.E.R. funded engine, Station 43 staffs one Type III fire engine, with a minimum of two personnel, under an Amador Contract with Shasta County. During the peak fire season months of June through October, Station 43 staffs both of its CAL FIRE Type III fire engines with a minimum of three personnel to meet CAL FIRE's all risk firefighting mission. Station 43 also actively participates with the Shasta County Regional Occupation Program's career ride-along program, enabling students from Shasta County area high schools the hands-on training to pursue careers within the fire service.
